What's Happening This Weekend in the Twin Counties?

Looking for some excitement and entertainment to spice up your weekend? Look no further! The Twin Counties are bustling with a variety of events sure to cater to every taste and preference. Whether you're a foodie, a culture enthusiast, or simply seeking some outdoor fun, there's something for everyone to enjoy.


FRIDAY, MAY 17th


Tackle the Tar- Free Family Night

On Friday, May 17th, the Twin Counties are buzzing with excitement as families and friends come together for a night of fun and entertainment. Starting at 6pm at the Rocky Mount Stadium (600 Independence Drive), Tackle the Tar Family Fun Night kicks off the race weekend festivities with games, food trucks, live music, and more as they gear up for the big race Saturday morning!


Pinetops 300’ Truck & Tractor Pull

As the evening unfolds, get ready for the adrenaline rush of the Pinetops 300’ Truck and Tractor Pull, where powerful machines compete for the win. The Pinetops 300’ will take place at 309 School Street in Pinetops. Gates open at 5pm, and the show starts at 7pm! Tickets will be available at the gate.


Mozart Festival

For those with a passion for classical music, the first event of the Mozart Festival begins at 7pm in Tarboro at Calvary Episcopal Church, tireating audiences to the timeless beauty of Mozart's organ works. All Mozart Festival performances are free to the public!


TBCxTaps on Main Pre-Memorial Day Charity Concert featuring The Speculations

Finish your evening with fun for a good cause! Taps on Main and Tarboro Brewing Company are hosting a concert at TBC with a performance by The Speculations. A $15 ticket gets you one beer, concert entry, and a donation to the Green Beret Foundation supporting our Veterans! The concert starts at 7pm, and tickets can be purchased on TBC’s website or by using this link.


With something for everyone to enjoy, Friday night in the Twin Counties promises unforgettable memories and endless smiles!


SATURDAY, MAY 18th


Tackle the Tar

Saturday, May 18th, promises an action-packed day in the Twin Counties with a variety of events to suit every taste. The excitement kicks off bright and early with the Tackle the Tar 5K Obstacle Race, where participants will navigate through thrilling challenges starting at 8:45am. Tickets are available here until the races begin!


Pinetops 300’ Truck & Tractor Pull

Meanwhile, gear up for the grand finale of the Pinetops 300’ Truck and Tractor Pull at 7pm, where roaring engines and fierce competition will keep spectators on the edge of their seats.


Mozart Festival

Classical music enthusiasts can enjoy three enchanting performances as part of the Mozart Festival: an open choral rehearsal at Calvary Episcopal Church at 10am, Mozart's piano works at Tarboro Conservatory of Music at 4pm, followed by a delightful soiree, and finally, Mozart's opera works at Calvary Episcopal Church at 7pm, with a reception to follow.


Happening on the Common

If you're looking for family-friendly fun, head to the Happening on the Common in Tarboro from 10am to 6pm, where you'll find a vibrant atmosphere with vendors, live music, amusements, and delicious food – the perfect way to spend a Saturday! This event is free to the public and located on the Tarboro Town Commons.


SUNDAY, MAY 19th


Mozart Festival

As the weekend draws to a close, Sunday, May 19th, offers one last opportunity to savor the delights of the Twin Counties. Cap off your weekend on a high note with the final performance of the Mozart Festival, presented by the Tarboro Choral Society. The concert will begin at 7pm at Keihin Auditorium at Edgecombe Community College for an evening of soul-stirring music and harmonious melodies. It's the perfect way to bid farewell to the weekend and create lasting memories in the Twin Counties
