The upcoming school year will see significant educational changes in the Twin Counties. The new school voucher program and the upcoming demerger will leave many families with questions. As you look ahead to the 2024-2025 school year, we hope to provide information for you to stay informed and explore your options.
Students who live in Edgecombe County and attend Nash County Public Schools will begin attending schools in Edgecombe County this fall. Parents of rising 10th-12th graders will have an opt-in choice to remain at the current schools, but K-8th graders will be attending new schools.

Edgecombe County Public Schools will have an informational meeting on Monday, February 19 at 1060 Pinehurst Drive in Rocky Mount at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Chew & Chat session at 6 p.m., which will give a chance to ask questions 1 on 1.

In addition to public schools, there are charter, private, and homeschool options in our area. These schools may have limited space, so begin the process early if you are interested.
Rocky Mount Prep is a K-12 tuition-free, public charter school started in 1997. It serves over 1,000 students. Apply here to begin the enrollment process.
North East Carolina Preparatory School is a tuition-free public charter school in Tarboro. It serves students in PreK-12th grade. Learn more about the admissions process here.
Rocky Mount Academy is an independent, private school founded in 1968. It is accredited by AdvancEd and SAIS. It serves students from Pre-K through 12th grade. Tuition varies by grade, and they offer a discounted rate for enrolling multiple siblings. Take a virtual campus tour, apply online, or visit RMA to learn more.
Faith Christian School is a private, non-denominational PreK-12th grade Christian school founded in 1993. It is accredited through AdvancEd and the Association of Christian Schools International. Tuition varies by grade, and there are discounts for enrolling multiple children. Contact the admissions office to learn more. They will have an Open House for prospective families on Thursday, February 15 at 6:30 p.m.
New Life Christian Academy is a private Christian school in Rocky Mount that provides education for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. New Life is accredited by the National Association of Private Schools. Their tuition is $4,000 per year, with additional fees varying by grade level. Learn more here. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School is a Catholic school in the Diocese of Raleigh and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It was established in 1939. It serves students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Tuition is $4200 for pre-K and $7000 for K-8, and discounts are available for additional children. Learn more about the admissions process here.
King’s Academy is a Christian school in Rocky Mount. It currently serves students in Kindergarten and 3rd grade. Tuition varies by grade with discounted rates for enrolling multiple children. Apply here.
Southside Academy is a private, Christian school designed to serve low-income families and students. They are currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Apply online to learn more.
Some families may consider homeschool options, and one such option could be Classical Conversations, a Classical, Christian homeschool community for students starting at 4 years old. Learn more about Classical Conversations or their nearby homeschool communities.
Another homeschool community is the Christian Homeschool Association of Rocky Mount (CHARM). They aim to provide support to homeschool families and to facilitate social activities.
